Awh poor Mr Griffin got all dressed up for nothing! Who cares right? Although this is all very amusing watching Nick getting turned away from Buckingham Palace, but what are the true implications of this? The palace argue that Mr Griffin was denied entry due to the fact he was ‘blatantly’ politicising the event and therefore was no longer welcome. However, the leader of the British National Party and member of the European Parliament claims that it was due to pressure from the Coalition Government who are apparently “desperate” to destroy the BNP (which would be no great shame would it).
Tactics like this are dangerous though, if they palace believe he politicised his invitation, how much more is he going to politicise his rejection? All this will simply provide Griffin and the BNP the publicity they wont and has the potential to generate some sympathy for them. If the Government share my aspiration and the aspiration of the majority of the population; the death of the BNP, this is not the way to go about it. I remember writing a blog a number of months ago about the BNP’s presence on Question Time and I take the position which I did then. That they should be allowed to participate in events such as Question Time and the Garden Party because like it or not the people were stupid enough to vote for the BNP and as a result they are democratically elected representatives who have the same rights as members of other parties.
In my opinion if we want to destroy the BNP we need to publicly expose them at every opportunity possible because only that way will the people see them for who they are; racist thugs!
