Baroness Thatcher, 82, was taken to hospital last night for tests after feeling unwell at her Belgravia home in Central London. A hospital spokesman has suggested that Thatcher was brought in as a “precaution” owing to her great age. Lady Thatcher has had a series of small strokes over the past few years and has been advised by doctors to give up public speaking. Having met the great lady myself on a number of occasions I believe that this latest episode is down to her failing memory rather than any underlying “sinister” medical condition. Thatcher can still recall events from the 80’s and before as if they happened yesterday but she can be reading and forget the line she had just read. She has no short term memory and close friends of hers have suggested that this is exaccerbated by her loneliness. I’m sure all Conservatives will wish her a speedy recovery.
