Cameron parts to the left…

Watchful eyes have noticed that David Cameron has changed his hair parting to the left. The reasons behind the decision are unknown, however there are three main theories. Apparently it may be an attempt to make the leader more manly, although others have argued that a parting on the left is an expression of femininity. Top hairdresser, Roger Craig, suggested that Cameron could be trying to make a metrosecual statement, adding that real men put their partings on the right hand side. Alternatively Quentin Letts, of the Daily Mail, argued that it was a poltical symbol for the Conservative Party’s change in direction, and that wife Samantha may have had a hand in the decision. The other theory is that a left hand parting disguises Cameron’s receeding hairline more effectively than a right hand parting. My own parting is currently to the right, I’m wondering if I should tow the party line and shift to the left. It’ll be interesting to see if any other Tory male MPs follow suit?

One Response to “Cameron parts to the left…”

  1. MIKE O'ROURKE (Chairman 05/06) Says:

Well, I cannot say that I have taken much notice of David Cameron’s parting, but I certainly have been taking notice of his politics and his leadership.

I certainly have been very impressed with both.

There have been many critisisms, mainly drawn from a very bored media, that Cameron has swung massively to the left and that his leadership is radically different from before.

Well I actually disagree with this. David has actually decided to respond to the new set of circumstances and challenges that face Britain today, by not seeking out the next day’s headlines but by setting out his inner beliefs. Something previous Party leaders found important too.

There has been change in the direction in which the Party has gone, but not as much as what many argue. The Party have also been the champion of marriage, the environment, cohesive communties and education. Yet, David has decided to put his stamp on the Party, by putting the environment and the N.H.S at the heart of his leadership. Howard put low taxes at the forefront of his, I.D.S put social justice at the heart of his, Hague put personal responsibility at the front of his and Major put education at the heart of his. Each leader is different yes, but all championed each issue differently, not never at all.

I did enjoy Wednesday’s PMQ’s. Cameron made some serious points to Parliament about both the importance of maintaining our own nucleur base and the need for military hospitals. Both topics were grown up topics, contrary to the accusations that all he is interested in is Punch and Judy politics. In fact most of the Punch and Judt stuff is instigated by the government and there image obsessed approach.

Completely the opposite is the truth. We may have discovered a new image in the Conservative Party, even a slightly new direction, but parting aside we are still the serious party of politics.
